Joanna Halbur

SHE/HER/HERS LIMHP, LMFT

I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with twenty years of experience supporting children, adults, and families through healing, growth, and life’s most challenging moments.  I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Creighton University and a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology.

I have worked in a variety of settings, including in-home, outpatient, and a child advocacy center.

In addition to my therapy work, I’ve spent much of my career supervising and mentoring other clinicians and leading mental health programs in Nebraska. I currently serve as a state‑level trainer for IoWA-PCIT and DC:0–5, and I regularly teach on topics such as trauma, early childhood development, reflective practice, and caregiver‑child relationships.

My approach is warm and collaborative - I believe people do their best when they feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. My clinical work has always centered on relationships: how we connect, how we cope, and how our early experiences shape the way we move through the world. Over the years, I’ve trained in evidence‑based models such as EMDR, PCIT, CPP, play therapy, and attachment‑based approaches. These tools allow me to tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs, whether we’re working through trauma, navigating parenting stress, strengthening family relationships, or building emotional resilience. Whether you’re seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, my goal is to help you feel more connected, more capable, and more hopeful about the path ahead.
